What the current official course page says
As checked on 22 September 2026, IATA describes its Foundation in Travel and Tourism with Travelport+ as an entry-level, 200-hour e-book diploma. The official page states a 12-month completion and examination validity period and includes a simulated Travelport+ global distribution system component. It covers industry structure, geography and codes, travel documents, air transport, rail, hotels, car rental, cruises, tours, customer service, fares, ticketing and reservation-system use.
IATA’s page describes an online remotely supervised examination and publishes the current course code, price and exam rules. Those dynamic details must be verified on the official page immediately before enrolment.
Historical RK Academy material is not proof of current authorization
RK Academy’s historical pages state that the academy was an IATA Authorised Training Centre. Because partner status can change, this rebuild does not present that historical claim as current. A prospective learner should search IATA’s live training-partner directory, confirm the organisation name and location, and compare the exact course code on the invoice with the official course page.
The six-item written verification checklist
- Exact course identity: course title, code and current official URL.
- Provider status: the organisation and location shown in IATA’s live network.
- Delivery: self-study, partner-taught or other format, with contact/support hours.
- Total cost: tuition, official registration, taxes, exam attempts, materials and retake terms.
- Assessment: method, booking responsibility, passing rule and result/certificate issuer.
- Career claims: distinguish learning outcomes from any unguaranteed internship or placement support.
Who may find the foundation diploma useful
The official course is framed for entry-level travel agents, airline reservation agents, tour operators and call-centre agents. That does not mean the diploma guarantees a role. A learner should compare the syllabus with local vacancies, identify whether employers expect GDS practice, customer service or ticketing experience, and ask how any local training adds supervised practice beyond the official e-book.
A candidate already working in aviation operations may need a different IATA course. Start from the job task and course syllabus rather than choosing the best-known course name.
